Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it — in plain English wherever we can manage it.
Overview
This policy explains how Burmax Energy (“Burmax”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information in connection with our website at burmaxenergy.com (the “Site”) and the solar consultation, sales and installation services we provide.
The Site is deliberately simple. It has no accounts, no shopping cart, no payment processing and no contact form — if you want a quote, you call us. So we collect very little through the Site itself. Most of what we hold about customers is given to us over the phone, by email, or in person during a consultation.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
When you call, text or email us, or when we visit your property, you may give us:
- Name, phone number and email address
- Service address and details about your property, roof and utility usage
- Copies of utility bills you choose to share so we can size a system
- Information relevant to financing, which may include income or credit-related details you provide to us or directly to a financing partner
You are not obliged to give us any of this. If you would rather not share something, tell us and we will explain what we can still do without it.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard server logs when a page is requested. These typically include IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and the date and time of the request. We use these only to keep the Site running, secure and reasonably fast. See our Cookie Policy for what is stored in your browser.
Information we do not collect
- We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking pixels on the Site
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13
- We do not collect payment card details through the Site
How we use information
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote or system design
- To perform a contract with you — permitting, installation, inspection and warranty service
- To pass necessary details to partners involved in your project, such as a financing provider, a partner trade, or the equipment manufacturer for warranty registration
- To meet legal, licensing, tax and contractor record-keeping obligations in California
- To keep the Site secure and diagnose technical problems
When we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose information only in these circumstances:
- Service partners working on your project — financing providers, equipment manufacturers such as SunPower, and partner trades for roofing, pool solar or insulation, limited to what each one needs
- Vendors who operate our infrastructure, such as our website host
- Legal reasons — where required by law or subpoena, or to establish or defend legal claims
- Business transfer — if the business is sold or reorganised, records may transfer with it
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become projects are kept only as long as useful to follow up. Records connected to an installation are kept for the life of the system and its 25-year warranty, and for as long as California contractor licensing, tax and limitation periods require. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host.
Your California privacy rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected, and its sources, purposes and categories of recipients
- Delete personal information we hold, subject to legal exceptions such as warranty, tax and licensing records
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information — we do not use it for purposes that trigger this right
- Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights
To make a request, call 858-837-3404 or write to the address at the end of this policy. We will verify your identity, usually by confirming details we already hold, and respond within the time the law allows — normally 45 days. An authorised agent may act for you with your written permission.
Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. We limit access to customer records to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the sensitivity of what we hold.
Links to other sites
The Site links to third parties such as Yelp, Facebook and Google Maps. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on the Site.
